Individual Therapy for Adults

Have you noticed your thoughts racing as you try to fall asleep? Maybe you’re worried that you said the wrong thing or that someone is upset with you?

Maybe you notice that your inner critic is louder lately. Maybe it’s telling you that you can’t get it together. That you’re failing. That you aren’t doing enough for your kids or your family.

Or maybe it’s something else entirely. Maybe you’re not sure exactly what it is - you just know you haven’t been feeling all that great lately and you aren’t sure what to do next. The truth is, life can be pretty challenging at times for all of us, so please let me remind you of this: you are not the only one feeling overwhelmed by it all.

If you found yourself here today, you might be seeking support to deal with a particular area of your life, such as a recent stressful event or higher levels of anxiety, or you might want to process challenging experiences from your past. Regardless of what brought you here, therapy is an incredible space to develop a deeper understanding of yourself, help you move forward from painful past experiences, empower you to create meaningful changes in your life, and help you improve your overall day-to-day life experience.

Things really can and will get better. Let’s create the space you need to understand yourself more and move forward on your own terms.

Types of Therapy Offered

Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT)

ACT is based on principles of acceptance and mindfulness. ACT aims to help individuals develop psychological
flexibility by teaching you how to accept thoughts and feelings without judgment. It also focuses on living a life aligned with your values.

Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)

DBT is based on the idea of balancing acceptance and change. The therapy incorporates acquired skills related to mindfulness, distress tolerance,
emotional regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness to help individuals improve their quality of life.

Exposure & Response Prevention (ERP/EXRP)

Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) is a specialized form of cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) primarily used to treat Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD).
The main goal of ERP is to help individuals with OCD gradually confront feared situations and resist compulsions through a tailored treatment plan.

Attachment-Focused
Therapy (AFT)

AFT is often used with individuals who have experienced relational challenges, trauma, or difficulties forming and maintaining intimate connections. The goal of AFT is to promote emotional healing and enhance relationship functioning.

Existential
Therapy

Existential Therapy explores human existence, choices, freedom, responsibility, and the search for meaning. Existential Therapy is especially helpful for individuals who are seeking to explore their life's purpose, navigating a significant life transition, or grappling with issues related to identity, freedom, and choice.

Mindfulness-Focused
Therapy

Mindfulness practices are rooted in ancient traditions, particularly in Buddhism. Mindfulness techniques are often used to help individuals develop greater self-awareness, emotional regulation, and coping skills. Practicing mindfulness is shown to reduce stress and anxiety, enhance concentration, and improve sleep.

Eye Movement Desensitization
& Reprocessing (EMDR)

EMDR helps us process painful memories by shifting how those memories are stored in the brain, leading to the release of somatic emotional experiences that have remained in the nervous system. While EMDR is primarily used for trauma-related conditions, it is a highly effective treatment for a range of emotional, mental, and stress-related issues.

Cognitive Behavioral
Therapy (CBT)

The central premise of CBT is that our thoughts, emotions, and behaviors are interconnected, and by identifying and changing negative or unhelpful thought patterns, we can positively influence our emotions and behaviors, leading to improved mental well-being.

Person-Centered
Therapy

Person-centered therapy focuses on providing a safe, supportive, and empathetic environment for self-exploration. This approach encourages individuals to tap into their inner resources and make meaningful discoveries about themselves to facilitate personal growth, improved self-awareness, and greater self-acceptance.
